AP Poll: Kilgore jumps to 3A No. 2 after big win

Kilgore's <a href="" target="_blank">34-29 win</a> over previous No. 1 Gilmer moved the Bulldogs up one spot in the Class 3A rankings on Monday with the release of the Associated Press high school poll.

Kilgore (9-0) moved from third to second in the final regular season poll. Argyle, previously ranked No. 2, took over the top spot and Gilmer fell from first to fourth. Graham moved from fourth to third.

Carthage, idle on Friday, remained seventh in the poll.

In Class 4A, Whitehouse remained at No. 3 following a 55-54 win over John Tyler. The Wildcats are 10-0, as are No. 1 Aledo, No. 2 San Antonio Northside Brennan, No. 4 Texas City, No. 5 Humble Summer Creek and No. 6 Elgin.

The 2A ranks saw just one change, with Hughes Springs - No. 10 last week - dropping out of the poll following a loss to Waskom. Tatum remained at No. 3 behind top-ranked East Bernard and unbeaten Newton.

Tenaha remained at No. 3 in Class A, where the only movement came at the bottom of the poll. Stamford moved from eighth to seventh, Albany from ninth to eighth and Muenster from 10th to ninth. Bremond moved into the poll at No. 10.

Anson dropped out of the poll.

East Texas teams receiving votes included Longview in Class 5A, Athens in 3A, Waskom, Garrison, Corrigan-Camden, Daingerfield, New Boston and Hughes Springs in Class 2A.
