A Longview man police believe sexually assaulted a girl during the course of a year was jailed Friday under bonds totaling $30,000.
Michael James Chalmers, 43, is accused of holding privileges hostage in exchange for sex from a 13-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint filed in the 188th District Court.
The victim told police Chalmers sexually assaulted her at least 20 times between March 2011 and November 2011 at locations that included his home and his car, the complaint stated.
The victim said at one point Chalmers forced her to have sex in exchange for school supplies and would routinely "have sexual intercourse with her in exchange for things she wanted to do," according to the complaint.
She recalled another incident in which Chalmers had sex with her "inside of his Crown Victoria" while parked at a car wash near the Sonic restaurant on Green Street," according to the complaint.
A Gregg County grand jury indicted Chalmers Aug. 8 on one count of sexual performance by a child, continuous sexual assault of a child, and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to documents filed in the Gregg County District Clerk's Office.
