Winter weather advisory extends into East Texas

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of East Texas and surrounding areas to last through Wednesday morning.
Precipitation is expected to start tonight turning to freezing rain, sleet and snow as temperatures fall in the overnight hours. On Tuesday, the precipitation is expected to again turn to rain with icy, sleet and snow again possible as temperatures fall.
Ice could begin to accumulate tonight in the advisory area, which includes counties of Gregg, Harrison, Camp, Cass, Morris, Wood, Upshur, Marion, Smith, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Angelina and San Augustine.
Bridges and overpasses can easily ice over. Motorists should use caution while driving during the time of the winter advisory.
