Two-Minute Drill: Former Lobo Russell honored, more

<strong>TJC'S RUSSELL HONORED:</strong> Former Longview Lobo baseball standout Reid Russell, now a freshman at Tyler Junior College, was named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week on Thursday.

Russell hit .500 (8-for-16) with three doubles and five RBIs from the designated hitter spot in wins over the ETBU junior varsity, Frank Phillips and Murray State.

Teammate Daniel Brown, a freshman from Mount Vernon, was named the Division III Pitcher of the Week. He struck out 13, walked one and gave up one hit in six innings of work in a win over Frank Phillips.

<strong>SFA FAN BUS:</strong> NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Alumni Association will provide a bus for SFA fans to travel from Nacogdoches to Huntsville on Saturday for the basketball doubleheader against Sam Houston State.

The fan bus will depart at 10:45 a.m. from the Tracie D. Pearman Alumni Center and will arrive at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum prior to the Ladyjacks' 1:30 p.m. tip-off. The bus will depart following the conclusion of the Lumberjacks' game and return to Nacogdoches after a stop for dinner.

Seats on the bus are $40 per person and must be reserved in advance by calling (936) 468-3407 or in person at the Tracie D. Pearman Alumni Center, 300 E. Vista Drive. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. today.

Tickets to the game are not included in the price.
