Jan. 1, 2014 at 11 p.m.
After a three-week break, the Kilgore College Lady Rangers will return to action in the Lady Ranger Classic that tips off today at Masters Gymnasium.
Kilgore will face Southwest Christian at 3 p.m. today and will wrap up the event against Arkansas Baptist at 3 p.m. Friday.
Kilgore's last game was a 75-48 setback to No. 1 Trinity Valley on Dec. 13. Before that, the Lady Rangers fell at Blinn, 92-88 in double overtime.
This will be the first time playing at home for Kilgore since a 67-61 victory against McLennan on Nov. 23. That is the lone home contest so far this season for the Lady Rangers.
Today's game will be the first of five straight home contests for Kilgore. After the two-game classic, the Lady Rangers (5-5) will host San Jacinto in Region XIV play at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8. That will be followed by games against Paris and a rematch with Trinity Valley.
Freshman Imaobong Akpan and sophomore Sha'Georgia Williams are the only two double-digit scorers for Kilgore. Akpan is averaging 14.1 points per game and leads the team with six rebounds per game and 18 total steals. Williams is averaging 12 points per game, including 21 in the loss to Blinn.
Tyler Junior College and Arkansas Baptist will face off to open the event at 1 p.m. today. Tyler will also take on Southwest Christian at 1 p.m. Friday.
