They take a stroll around Jean's farm and stop to pet the cows. |
Dubbed the Dixie Hens (because they're too old to be "chicks"), the group met up at Jean's home in Longview for a delicious evening meal. Along with their mascot Ruby Bob (a rubber chicken named after their only male cousin), the ladies spent time catching up, looking at old family photos and playing a favorite game of theirs, Tripoly.
Wednesday morning, the Hens put on their matching T-shirts and headed to Jefferson for some antique shopping and lunch. By mid-afternoon, they were at Jonel's home in Marshall. The gals took tons of pictures as they gathered in the living room around a piano while Jonel played some old gospel favorites. After a quick stop at Marshall Pottery, they headed back to Jean's home where they grilled up some burgers, played dominoes and shared some wine.
Thursday morning they went to Gladewater for more shopping and a nice lunch at Glory Bee Bakery. After another wonderful evening of food, more games and planning their next reunion, bedtime came early. The following morning they departed with hugs and promises of e-mails and picture-sharing.
