Three Harleton friends, Angel Johns, Katherine Beattie and Wendy Goode, along with their children, headed out early one Sunday in June for an 8-hour road trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. They were ready for five fun-filled days of nothing but sun, sand and relaxation.
About eight miles before they rolled into their destination spot, the gals and their kiddos stopped in Foley at a famous little hot spot, Lambert's Cafe, aka "Home of the Throwed Roll." This proved to be an experience they'll never forget! The restaurant offered homestyle cooking, "pass arounds," and "throwed" dinner rolls. They dined on huge platters of food, enjoyed "pass around" samples of all kinds of good foods and laughed as huge rolls were thrown in their direction.

When they finally reached their condo, they made a trip to a local grocery store for food and supplies they knew they'd need for the week. Each family was responsible for cooking one night's dinner, and the rest of the time it was a free-for-all.
During their vacation, the group basked in plenty of beach time. They enjoyed finding gorgeous sea shells, shopping the surf shops and hitting the outlet mall back in Foley. One night the girlfriends took the little ones crabbing along the lagoon next to Gulf Shores Raquet and Beach Club. The three children left with more than 300 hermit crabs — and they even made it home with a few strapped to the back of the car! The older kids enjoyed walking the beach in the evening and meeting new friends. The group also had time to make the short drive to Pensacola, Florida, and see the beautiful beaches there.
All in all, the trip was a great success, and the girlfriends highly recommend this spot for adults looking to relax while the kids are entertained!
