Nov. 14: Longview fire chief fired; clique claim leads to call for inquiry
Because of poor information given to the newspaper, a story on page 1A of Friday's newspaper about the Longview City Council's dismissal of Fire Chief Michael Pruitt inaccurately described a resident who spoke at the meeting. City spokesman Shawn Hara said Ken Everett was discharged after working for the fire department for 16 years. Everett said he worked at least 18 years for the city and added that he was asked to resign for improperly taking fire department equipment, which he denied. He said he was never charged with any crime related to the accusation.
