In 1983, five people vanished from the Kilgore Kentucky Fried
Chicken. Signs of a struggle, including a pool of blood, were found
at the restaurant, and about $2,000 was missing from the eatery. The
bodies were found the following morning by an oil field worker in
Rusk County. The crime has been called the worst in the history of
East Texas.

BRYAN — A Brazos County jury on Tuesday convicted Darnell Hartsfield on five counts of capital murder for the deaths of five people kidnapped from a Kilgore Kentucky Fried Chicken in September 1983.
