Clarksville City water OK'd

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Clarksville City residents can drink water out of their taps again, City Manager Billy Silvertooth said Saturday.

A 7-hour water-boiling order was lifted late Friday. Residents were told to boil drinking water after a fatal accident on U.S. 80 at Lake Devernia resulted in a snapped 8-inch water main to the city.

The main has since been repaired, Silvertooth said.

"It was OK to start with," he said. "It was just a precaution that we had taken."

James Weatherford, 77, of Hinton, West Va. was killed in the wreck about 4 p.m. in Clarksville City, Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Arthur Fort said. Services are pending with Rader Funeral Home.
