An afternoon fire on Asaff Drive destroyed a vehicle parked in a garage and heavily damaged a home Thursday, Longview Fire Investigator Joey Cowan said.
The fire appears to have started inside the garage between a trash can and a work bench, although investigators have not determined what caused it, Cowan said. Investigators said the fire was not set intentionally.
He said the fire consumed the garage and destroyed a vehicle inside it before moving into the house itself. Four people lived in the home, but they are staying elsewhere because of extensive heat damage. Cowan said the family does have insurance.
