Carthage quarterback Anthony Morgan picked up another honor following his spectacular performance a week ago in the Bulldogs' win over Diboll.
Morgan, named the Longview News-Journal's offensive player of the week on Monday, was selected as the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week for Class 3A on Wednesday.
Morgan was joined by Irving MacArthur running back James Sims in Class 5A, Highland Park quarterback Luke Woodley in 4A, Henrietta quarterback and defensive back Seth Crumpton in 2A, Ben Bolt quarterback Aaron Bueno for Class A and Bay Area Christian (League City) running back and defensive back Codie Henriques for private schools.
The Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program honors one student-athlete in six of the state's athletic classifications every week during the high school football regular season for his accomplishments on and off the field.
- Morgan, playing in just a little more than two quarters of action in his team's 54-25 blowout win, completed 11 of 12 passes for 330 yards and five touchdowns (74, 56, 22, 20 and 11) and rushed for one score.
- Sims rushed 25 times for 377 yards and scored seven times on runs of 18, 70, 4, 5, 1, 54 and 50 yards in his team's 63-35 win over South Grand Prairie.
- Woodley connected on 24 of 28 passes for 448 yards and five touchdowns in the Scots' 63-42 win over Rockwall.
- Crumpton carried 24 times for 282 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 59 yards and another score in his team's 41-30 win over Holliday.
- Bueno rushed 17 times for 258 yards and four touchdowns and completed 14 of 20 passes for 252 yards and another score in his team's 48-0 win over Agua Dulce.
- Henriques carried 46 times for 271 yards and three touchdowns and also had a key stop defensively in overtime to preserve a 26-20 win over Katy Pope John XXIII.
