Police Beat: Woman charged with robbery

■ Janet Alicia Stanley, 44, of Ore City remained jailed Thursday on $7,500 bond, charged with robbery. Gregg County sheriff's deputies arrested Stanley at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday at the Lone Star Motel on East Marshall Avenue. Authorities said Stanley robbed the EZ Mart store on Texas 135 at FM 1252 near Liberty City at 3:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators used store surveillance video and identifying clothing Stanley left at the store following a scuffle with the store's clerk to determine the suspect, records showed.

■ Michael Gene Duxbury Jr., 27, of Longview was released from jail Thursday on $7,500 bond, charged with assault/family violence by strangulation. Longview police arrested Duxbury in the 500 block of Kay Drive at 3:10 a.m. Thursday. A woman told authorities that Duxbury, her husband, pushed her into furniture and held his foot on her throat, according to arrest reports. He later struck the victim with a closed fist and set paper currency on fire and threw it on her, reports showed.

■ Louis Writt III, 34, of Longview remained jailed Thursday on $107,500 bond, charged with sexual assault of a child and unlawful use of a firearm by a felon. Sheriff's deputies opened an investigation Friday after a juvenile reported abuse from a relative, according to sheriff's Capt. Mike Claxton. District Judge Alfonso Charles issued an arrest warrant for Writt, who was apprehended Monday, Claxton said.

Calls for service

Longview police arrested nine people Wednesday, including five juveniles. The department dispatched officers to 195 calls for service.
