A Longview man accused of stealing a vehicle from the car lot he was fired from this past month was jailed Tuesday afternoon when police noticed the vehicle was stolen during a traffic stop.

According to his arrest report, police said Jesse Adam Swensen, 38, took the keys to an Infiniti sedan from the Patterson Select dealership before being fired May 25.

On Monday, Longview police spotted Swensen when he turned right into the inside lane instead of the outside lane as he exited the Globe Inn parking lot, according to police reports.

The arresting officer said Swensen initially refused to pull over when he tried to stop him, but eventually stopped in the 600 block of Texas Street where he consented to a vehicle search.

The officer reported finding a 9 mm pistol and two loaded magazines.

Swensen was booked into the Gregg County Jail on charges of fleeing a police officer, unauthorized use of a vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Bond was set at $16,000.
