Oak Ridge Boys to headline 17th Annual Hall of Fame Show Aug. 9

The 17th Annual Hall of Fame Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Carthage Civic Center. Headlining the show will be nationally-known country band The Oak Ridge Boys. Featured in the show will be the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Band with Shawnda Rains and Charlie Shearer, Clay Cooper, Linda Davis, Becky Hobbs, Jake Penrod, Holly Tucker, Leona Williams, Ron Williams, Tim Watson, and Billy Jo Russel. The John Ritter Tribute Showcase Entertainment special guest will be the grand daughter of Tex Ritter himself, Carly Ritter.

Texas Sports Writers vote three local players to an All-State team

The Texas Sports Writers Association released their Collin Street Bakery All-State baseball teams this week and three Panola County players found their name on a team.

Carthage and Beckville students receive awards at SFA band camp

Carthage and Beckville students received awards recently at the Stephen F. Austin State University Band Camp in Nacogdoches. Madolynn Permenter, band student at Carthage Junior High, received the Outstanding Woodwind Award from Corey Graves, director of the 8th Grade Stone Fort Band.


The Deadwood News

Vacation Bible School was a big success at the Deadwood/Galloway UMC joint VBS. Average attendance was around 65 each night. The weather was good and the kids had a great time.
