Patterson leaving Panola to head UT Tyler-Longview Center

Van Patterson has been named director of The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center, effective July 15, according to Alisa White, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.

He will follow Jack Miller, who retired this past year.

“Dr. Patterson will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Longview campus and indeed the entire university,” White said.

Patterson is vice president for Institutional Advancement at Panola College.

In addition to being vice president, he has also worked at Panola College as the director of student activities and as an academic counselor.

Throughout his career, Patterson has maintained appointments as an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M University – Commerce, teaching instructional training and design as well as higher education courses.

Patterson holds an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Texas A&M University – Commerce, a master of business administration from East Texas Baptist University and a bachelor of business administration from Baylor University.
