All-East Texas nominations needed
Area softball and baseball coaches are asked to send nominations for the Longview News-Journal's All-East Texas softball and baseball teams and the Texas Sports Writers Association's All-State softball team to Sports Editor Jack Stallard as soon as their season ends.
Deadline to nominate players for All-East Texas and TSWA All-State softball is Monday, June 2. The All-East Texas team will publish on Sunday, June 15, and the TSWA All-State Team will be released on Sunday, June 29.
Deadline to nominate players for the All-East Texas baseball team is Monday, June 9, and the team will be published on Sunday, June 22.
Please include the player(s) name, position, grade, school (and school's classification) and any available statistics.

Tryouts slated for women's pro team
MARSHALL — Tryouts for the National Women's Football Association team that will be based in Marshall are scheduled for May 24 at 10 a.m. and May 11 at 11 a.m. at the William B. Travis Elementary School.
The NWFA, in its eighth season, has expanded from two teams in its inaugural season to 35 teams this year. Texas already boasts three teams, one each in Houston (H-Town Cyclones), Austin (Austin Outlaws) and Dallas (North Texas Fury).
Initial arrangements have been made with Thedrick Harris, Marshall athletic director, for the Saberkats to play home games at Maverick Stadium. The league plays an eight-game season that runs from late April to late June. A three-round playoff concludes each year. All games are played on Saturday nights.
Maco Stewart tournament slated
The Maco Stewart Golf Tournament is scheduled for today at Alpine Golf Course. The gathering begins at 9 a.m. for players and friends of the 1947 era football team at Longview High School. Lunch will be at noon with the golf tournament beginning at 1 p.m.

Hallsville sets football registration
HALLSVILLE — The Hallsville Little League Football Association will hold registration for the upcoming season May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the junior high cafeteria.
Eligible players are next year's kindergarteners through sixth-graders.
