The restaurant plans to donate a portion of its receipts from 4 to 10 p.m. to the foundation, which provides grants to teachers and sponsors the annual Lamplighter Awards banquet. The pep rally is set for 7 p.m. The football team, cheerleaders and Viewettes plan to attend.

Judson choir

The Judson Middle School Choir recently was selected to a position in the All-Region Choir. Choir members are Serena Tuel, Signore Taylor, Callie Blakeley, Molli Weeks, Cha'kevia Perry, Sherbrynnda Bell, Katlyn Cave, Iemhani Allen, Zoey Skinner, Alicia Byrd, Lacoria Sanders, Jessica Andrews, Jakoriyan Walker, Darri'el Hannah, Carson Owens, Jazmyne Rice-Cauley, Vernon Hutchinson, Shymaya Grant, Arnisha Sanchez, Donnetta Shelby, Kim Collins, Erica Elikwu, Collyn Lee, Derodrick Alexander, Markell Nelson, Kyonah Austin, Keyauntra Austin, Halee Brewer, Jordan Houser and Ki'untrez O'Quinn.

The All-Region Choirs of Region 21 are set to perform in concert Nov. 14 at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Hallsville musical

Disney Channel's smash hit movie is coming to life on stage at Hallsville High School Auditorium when 70 students perform in the "High School Musical" production.

Performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 7; and 3 p.m. Nov. 8. Tickets are $8 and can be reserved by calling (903) 668-5990 ext. 2149 or by e-mailing mcraig@hisd.com or rcraig@hisd.com.

WO band to state

White Oak High School band students will have the opportunity Monday to compete in the UIL State Marching Band Contest.

The band placed third in the 2A UIL regional competition at Lobo Stadium on Saturday, qualifying them to advance to the state semi-finals.

The Regiment of Roughnecks will compete in the Alamodome in San Antonio. Bands will be notified by 6 p.m. whether they will advance to the final round scheduled for later that evening.

"We're proud of them," Superintendent Mike Gilbert said. "We're very excited about this. White Oak's never advanced to this level before."

Gregg County 4-H

More than 125 Gregg County 4-H members, leaders, parents and community supporters celebrated National 4-H Week at the recent Gregg County 4-H Awards Ceremony at the Gregg County Extension Auditorium.

Receiving the 4-H Gold Star award were Hayley Keenon, daughter of Gene and Melynda Keenon of Kilgore; Tyeisha Moore, daughter of Angela Pippins of Longview; and Kathryn Smith, daughter of Dennis and Melinda Smith of Pittsburg. The Gold Star award is the highest 4-H award presented on the county level by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and is awarded to 4-H members with outstanding leadership qualities and who are extensively involved in the 4-H program.

The Bronze Star award is presented based on active 4-H participation and community service. The recipients of the 4-H Bronze Star award were Paul Daniels of the Shamrocks 4-H club, Gwen Graves of the Shiloh 4-H club, and Xavier Pippins of the Happy Hearts 4-H club. As first year 4-H members, Nicholas Hoskins of the Kilgore 4-H club was named the Junior Rookie of the Year and Vincent Luna of the Shamrocks 4-H club was named the Senior Rookie of the Year.

The Danforth I Dare You award was presented to Shamrocks 4-H club members Megan Stevens and Cody Daniels. The award is a challenge to young people to reach their highest potential and to influence others through lives of service and is awarded in recognition of personal integrity, balanced living and motivation for leadership.

Recognized as the recipient of the 2009 Shannon Harms 4-H Memorial Scholarship was Joshua Jarvis of the 4-H Saddle Club. Happy Hearts 4-H club members Crystal Odum and Myeisha Moore were recognized as the recipients of the Gregg County 4-H Adult Leaders Association scholarships.

Haunted house

Forest Park Middle School plans to host a haunted house Nov. 6 and needs community donations.

Elizabeth Wilbanks said she's collecting donations of used Halloween decorations for the haunted house. She needs items by Nov. 5. The haunted house is part of Forest Park's annual fall festival.

Hallsville honor society

The Hallsville Junior High School inducted 25 students into the Honor Society recently. Students were Elizabeth Berg, Gray Clark, Olivia Fotopoulos, Rebekah Hunt, Cassity Irvin, Kortnee Kay, Kirstin King, Will Kornman, Katelyn McLeod, Lauren Meadows, Brooks Meyer, Ashlyn Miller, Rachel Ogden, Crissy Patterson, John Calvin Pierce, Jared Pirkle, Natasha Reitinger, Olivia Stanton, Brenna Stephenson, Michael Scott Suddeth, Travis Teodorczyk, Brooklyn Townsend, Lenzie Winton, Noah Womack and Jonathan York.
