Team event kicks off the Saturday, Nov. 21, squad at 11 a.m., while Doubles and Singles hit the lanes at noon on Sunday, Nov. 22.

Senior resurgence

The 16th Annual Longview Lanes Senior Invitational hits the lanes this coming weekend with renewed vigor and a 78-team field, up dramatically from 64 teams in 2008, and a mere 57-team total in 2007.

Although few local teams are listed on the tournament roster, bowlers from as far away as Victoria and New Braunfels as well as Oklahoma and Louisiana are set to vie for nearly $7,000 in total prize money.

Doubles and Singles competitions are slated for Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 at the Spur 63 Center, with Team event shoeing up on Nov. 15 and Nov. 22.

'Dead-eye' takes title

The 2009-10 PBA Tour season kicked off with a star-studded telecast last Sunday at the Motor City Open as Walter Ray Williams Jr. captured his 46th PBA championship. In a suspense-filled final match, Williams defeated former PBA Player of the Year Chris Barnes by a score of 238 to 230.

Rising star Bill O'Neill had hoped his luck would change from last season, when he made the TV finals seven times, only to come up short of a coveted title each time. He bested Tommy Jones and PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber in Rounds 1 and 2, but struggled against eventual runner-up Barnes by a score of 183 to 169.

In the first PBA Tour event to be telecast in a reality-style match play format showcasing action from every round, veteran Norm Duke will be trying for his 33rd PBA Tour title in the PBA Cheetah Championship.

Up for the challenge against Duke and hungry for their 1st Tour title are Ryan Ciminelli, Derek Sapp, and Stevie Weber. The $25,000 first prize also adds extra incentive to their quest.

ESPN plans to broadcast the finals at noon CST. The Cheetah Championship is the 2nd event of the 2009-10 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour season.

Highlights
