Adams Celebrate 69th
Mr. Billie Hugh Adams and former Ms. Norma Lee Howell were married on September 26, 1949, in Beckville, Texas. This year marks their 69th wedding anniversary. Bill grew up in Beckville with a brother and three sisters. His only living sister, Margie Hargis, lives in Longview, Texas. Norma was born in Pittsburg, Texas and grew up with a brother and a sister in Henderson, Texas.
They have raised two wonderful children, Jody and Julie. Their son, Jody Adams and his wife Lisa live in Marshall, Texas. Bill and Norma have two grandchildren, Brian Adams and his wife Mandy of Tyler, Texas, and Allison Adams and her husband Art Gay, also of Tyler. They have three great-grandchildren; Jake, Trent, and Ellie Adams of Tyler. Their daughter, Julie Adams and her partner Luz live in Longview.
Bill worked as a pipeline manager building pipelines in the northwestern region of the U.S. for several years. He returned to East Texas and managed Safeway stores in Marshall, Henderson, Longview, and other surrounding areas for 25 years before retiring. For the next 40-plus years, he owned and managed Adams Furniture & Appliance and Bills Furniture & Appliance, both in Longview. In his latent years, he opened Bills Rustic Furniture in Lakeport. Bill finally retired shortly after his 85th birthday.
Norma, an outstanding homemaker, worked at Thiokol Corporation in Karnack, in the early years of their marriage. Later, she owned and managed Normas Novelties, where she used her creative talents to make decorative pottery that was eventually marketed and distributed in the East Texas and Dallas areas. She is a loving wife, and a strong and faithfully committed mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and true friend to all. She is a member of Reel Road Church of Christ in Longview. Bill and Norma are active individuals, always seeking to have a purpose in life and a meaningful impact on those who know and love them.
The Adams currently reside in an independent senior living center in Longview, enjoying life and happiness in the company of friends and family. Their anniversary will be celebrated with a family dinner.
