Mary & Zack Mitchell

~Mitchells Celebrate 70th Anniversary~

Mary Evelyn (Martin) and Zack Fall Mitchell were married on October 3, 1947 in the First Presbyterian Church of Longview, the church where Marys grandfather Dr. Robert Hall had been the minister for nine years in the 1920s.

Mary and Zack both grew up in Longview and graduated from Longview High School. Zack is a graduate of Texas A & M and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After their marriage, the Mitchells lived in West Texas for 34 years during Zacks career as a petroleum engineer with Amoco. During those years Mary was a community volunteer in Odessa as well as a homemaker and busy mother of two sons. Mary and Zack retired in 1981 and moved back to the Mitchell family farm in the Lakeport Elderville community where they continue to live at this time. During retirement, they have volunteered in the Longview community and have been active members of First Presbyterian Church of Longview.

Their children are Ronald Mitchell and wife Nan of Lakeport and David Mitchell and wife Ginger of Fredericksburg. They also have three grandsons, Matthew Mitchell and wife Gretchen of Austin, Dr. Kent Mitchell and wife Grace of Fort Worth, and Gabe Mitchell of Katy, and nine great grandchildren.

The occasion was celebrated with a private family dinner at the Summit Club.
