John T. Smith, IV received his B.A. from the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1994. He expects to complete his Master of Liberal Arts degree from Dallas Baptist University in 2017. He is an active member of Fellowship Bible Church, a brother in the first, historically black Greek-letter fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a Pythian Knight-Lodge #26, a United States Chess Federation Tournament Organizer, USCF Affiliate and Community Chess Coordinator for Lake o' the Pawns. He transitioned from seven years of experience as a NASD Registered Representative for Fidelity Investments and Southwest Securities as a Client Services Manager to a Texas Public School Educator currently in his fourteenth year. Mr. Smith earned was the Silver Award Recipient in the 2010 Irving Celebration of Excellence in the High School Math & Science Category (I.C.E. Awards) at the Jack E. Singley Academy, a U.S. News & World Report Top 100 U.S. High Schools for 2010, 2011 and 2012. John T. Smith, IV has established student chess clubs and/or teams for home school student enrichment and public school club and sponsored chess teams since 2007. Several former student accomplishments and academic milestones include awards, chess trophies, college scholarship money for chess, mayoral notes of achievement for chess excellence at a national junior high school chess event and other student accolades at city, state, and national scholastic chess tournaments. Chess sponsor and team coach duties and tasks have earned John T. Smith, IV the integrity, trust and gratitude of several former students: young adults either currently enrolled or college graduates from many of the UT system satellite campus locations, including UT Arlington and UT Dallas. John Smith IV's first published book "I Shall Wear a Crown: Devotional Chess Meditations, is to be published in 2017 by Outskirts Publishers.
