Well, that didn't take long.

When he reopened the original Bodacious Bar-B-Q in Longview in early June, Jordan Jackson had already said he had plans to make barbecue so good it would be recognized by Texas Monthly.

Now, he hasn't yet made "The List," but a rating posted today on TMBBQ.com and written by Texas Monthly's own Barbecue Editor Daniel Vaughn says, "The original Bodacious is back, and it's already one of East Texas's (sic) best barbecue joints."

The evaluation gives the Bodacious on Mobberly a TMBBQ rating of 4.25. For context, Stanley's Famous Pit Barbecue in Tyler and Joseph's Riverport Barbecue in Jefferson, which both made the list, each received a 4.5 rating in the most recent edition of "The 50 Best BBQ Joints in the World!"

Just before the original location reopened in June, Jackson told the News-Journal he wanted to preserve what Bodacious originator Roland Lindsey had started.

"I want to keep the menu very simple, but good," Jackson said during the interview with Christina Lane. "I want to serve quality barbecue consistently. And, I want us to be one of the Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas (as named by Texas Monthly every five years or so) with the original location."

Bodacious was already on TMBBQ's radar before the restaurant reopened. The site in May posted a lengthy Q&A with Lindsey, during which he admitted he had hopes to "bridge the gap between Jefferson and Tyler."
