This week’s #ThrowbackThursday photo is in honor of the Longview Habitat for Humanity and all the people they have helped throughout the years.

According to their website, the organization with support from the community has helped house more than 83 local families.

The photo was taken in February of 1998, with cutline, “Janeshyia Hawkins, 4, looks out her front door to see PT Honor Society president Luke Crowson, 14, raking dirt in the front yard of her mother's new Habitat for Humanity house on E. College Saturday. Members of the society helped sod the Hawkins home as a community service. “

Longview Habitat for Humanity will have its annual Raisin’ the Roof fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 21.

Enjoying our #tbt pictures? Don’t forget to check back next Thursday for another visual walk down memory lane as we take a tour through our archives and join the #ThrowbackThursday social media trend.

If you have old photos from the region you would like to share, please send them to with the subject line “Throwback Thursday.”
