It’s not every day or even every winter you get a chance to build a snowman in East Texas.  Driving around Longview yesterday, it seemed like there was a snowman, snowwoman or other type of snow creation on every corner.

This week’s #ThrowbackThursday photos take a look back at a time in when snow was present enough for people to build snow people.

The snowman with the construction helmet didn’t have a date but did have a description, “Snowman made by Isreal Rodrigues and family on construction site on Texas 149.”

The snowman sporting the cowboy hat didn’t have a description but was dated Jan. 17, 1982.

Unfortunately, the lady snowman and police snowman had no information written on the old photos.

Check out some of the snow people photos we received from readers yesterday here:  East Texas Snowmen (And Women)

Enjoying our #tbt pictures? Don’t forget to check back next Thursday for another visual walk down memory lane as we take a tour through our archives and join the #ThrowbackThursday social media trend.

If you have old photos from the region you would like to share, please send them to with the subject line “Throwback Thursday.”
