The day before former first lady Nancy Reagan's funeral, a reader pointed out a Dallas Morning News blog post that made reference to a stop she and former President Ronald Reagan made more than two decades ago in Longview.

The entry posted on the day Nancy Reagan died, included a photo credited to the Associated Press during a visit she and her husband, who was then Gov. Ronald Reagan, made at the airport in Gregg County while he was on the campaign trail to become president.

Here is that picture:

The cutline for the Associated Press file image reads,

"Gov. Ronald Reagan, center, and his wife Nancy Reagan say hello to supporters at the Gregg County Airport in Longview, Texas, Tuesday, March 25, 1980. Gov. John Connally at far left had earlier in the day thrown his support to the former California Governor."

The man who sent us the link sais he is Glen Ivey, a radio reporter at the time for KLUE in Longview. He said he is the man in the picture standing behind the Reagans wearing headphones and holding a microphone. He was covering the event for the radio station.

Ivey wrote in his email to us, "They were the most gracious to those of us covering their events, and very cooperative in allowing interviews."

Nancy Reagan is being laid to rest today in California. Her funeral comes more than a decade after her husband's death.

We're hoping some of you might have been there that day in 1980 when the Reagans stopped at what is now the East Texas Regional Airport and might have memories you'd like to share with us. If so, please leave them in the comments.
