Over the past month, it's been about implementing and fine tuning a new system for the Lady Lobos in preparation for District 11-6A action.

That begins tonight.

After wrapping up the non-district schedule, other than one more tournament weekend late in December, this past weekend, Longview will open league play tonight on the road at Mesquite Horn, the defending 11-6A champions.

Longview finished action in the Great East Texas Shootout with a big win over Crandall in the third-place game, capping a 4-1 weekend.

The Lady Lobos, who are using their speed to score quickly and often, open district action at 14-2 on the season.

Destiny McAfee is averaging 14 points per game for Longview, adding seven rebounds, three assists and three steals per game to her senior season.McKenze Brown follows with an average of 11 points per game and Heavunli Reese is averaging eight points per game.

Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. tonight in Mesquite.
