Insider: Longview's Kessler commits to Texas State

Longview's Chris Kessler was worked and worked at his craft since the first time he kicked a football.
On Thursday night, he announced where he will continue to work after high school.
Texas State is getting a versatile weapon in Kessler, who has 26 touchbacks, a career-long 47-yard field goal and a 51-yard punt this season for Longview.
Kessler is averaging 38 yards on 21 punts this season for Longview, using a combination of distance and hang time with four punts inside the 20 and two inside the 10 this season. He is 36-for-37 on point-after attempts with the one miss being blocked kick. On field goals, he has makes of 26, 35, 39, 39, 44, 46 and 47.
He also had four tackles this season for Longview.
As a junior, Kessler finished the season with 37 touchbacks, 53-for-56 on PATs, 9-for-12 on field goals and averaged 38 yards with a long of 47 on 15 punts.
Longview closes out the regular season tonight at Mesquite.
