John Cornyn wants to be seen as a Trump loyalist heading into next year's reelection effort.

Democrats hoping to unseat him want exactly the same thing.

Those agendas met Monday, when the Cornyn campaign sent out a fundraising appeal from Donald Trump Jr. calling the Texas Republican his dad's "biggest ally."

Texas Democrats pounced.
