Former President George W. Bush spoke Dec. 3 in Longview during the inaugural event of the East Texas Speakers Forum, a newly created nonprofit organization.

About 2,000 people packed LeTourneau University’s Belcher Center to hear the 43rd president in a question and answer session in which he discussed 9/11 and life after the presidency. Amy McHaney, a founding board member of the East Texas Speakers Forum, led the question and answer session. Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt was master of ceremonies.

The organization hasn’t yet announced the next speakers, but Mount Pleasant and Marshall will be the next host cities. For information, visit easttexasspeakersforum.com .
