LETU GAMES CANCELED: Thursday’s basketball doubleheader between LETU and Ozarks is canceled due to health and safety protocols.

The games will not be made up and considered no contests in accordance with ASC policies.

LETU is scheduled to host UT Dallas Monday, Jan. 17, with the women tipping at 3 p.m. The men follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game.

WOOD HOLLOW SENIORS: David Neihaus, Bubba Threadgill, Johnny Miller and Don Novak teamed up for a 14-under, two-shot win at the Wood Hollow Senior Scramble on Tuesday.

Jimmy Parsley, Bill Jirka, David Weaver and David Bickel were two back at 12-under.

Vern Galloway (5-10) took closest to the hole honors on No. 9, and the money hole (No. 13) went to Steven Hall at 6-6.

LBBA REGISTRATION: Registration for the Longview Boys Baseball Association is open and will run through Feb. 19.

Payment may be made by credit card at this time, or you may indicate check payment, which will hold your registration until cash or check is received before Feb. 18 at TA Sports.

Players may register at TA Sports, 405 Enterprise St (9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday — Friday) or in person on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Greggton Community Center (back entrance) located at 3211 W. Marshall Ave (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.).

Players new to LBBA must supply a copy of birth certificate.

League age is the age will be prior to May 1, 2022. All players must be 4 prior to May 1, 2022.

FREE THROW CONTEST: The annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 at the St. Mary’s Catholic School gymnasium.

The free contest is for boys and girls ages 9-14, and shooters will compete against others in their same age group and gender.

EVALUATION CAMP: Howard Payne University baseball will host its annual Winter Prospect Camp on Jan. 15 for all 2022-2024 high school graduates.

Each player will go through a practice style workout, including bullpens, catcher workout, on field batting practice and fungo at your defensive position.

The Howard Payne coaching staff will evaluate and instruct each player and provide a written evaluation (if requested).

Following the conclusion of the camp, an optional tour of the campus will be offered.

Registration is 9:30 a.m., and the camp runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Don Shepard Park (1900 Central Avenue, Brownwood, Texas 76801)

Cost is $50 for one position and $75 for two or more positions.
