■ ETCS 55, ANNAPOLIS 18: UNIVERSAL CITY — Paced by Jaelyn Cleveland’s 27-point, 12-rebound double-double, the East Texas Christian School Lady Chargers rolled into the Texas Christian Athletic League state title game with a 55-18 win over Corpus Christi Annapolis on Friday.
ETCS will take on Sunnybrook Christian at 9 a.m. today for the state championship in San Antonio at University of Incarnate Word.
Cleveland added two assists and five blocks for ETCS, which led 19-2 after one quarter and 32-9 at halftime.
Jordan Parker finished with 17 points, four assists, five rebounds and three steals for the Lady Chargers. Abby Truman contributed two assists, six rebounds, a block and five assists, Chloe Botkin one assist and two rebounds, Jaden Parker seven points and 10 rebounds, Jenna Parker four points, three assists, four rebounds and three steals and Megan Langford one rebound.
■ ETCS 59, PROVIDENCE 45: UNIVERSAL CITY — Octavian McKee scored 21 points, John Sawyer and James Sawyer combined for 25 and East Texas Christian School advanced to the championship game of the Texas Christian Athletic League State Tournament with a 59-45 win over Providence Christian Prep.
ETCS will take on Corpus Christi Annapolis at 4:30 p.m. today at University of Incarnate Word.
McKee added seven rebounds, two deflections and two assists for the Chargers. John Sawyer finished with 13 points, two rebounds, three assists, two steals and a deflection. James Sawyer recorded 12 points, two rebounds, three assists, two steals and a deflection, Braden McCullin four points and two rebounds, Ben Hill seven points and three rebounds and Brenton Jenkins two points, an assist and a steal.
■ CONNALLY 59, CARTHAGE 44: ATHENS — Missed free throws, turnovers and the overall game of Connally’s Korie Black was more than the Carthage Bulldogs could overcome Friday night.
Black finished with a game-high 21 points and kept the Bulldogs at bay most of the night as the Cadets won 59-44 in the Athens High School Gym.
The Cadets will face the winner of Lorena and Palestine in the regional quarterfinals.
Black did much of the damage in the first period, as the Bulldogs trailed 12-6. They would make it a five-point game at the half and with two early baskets to start the third, cut the lead to 23-22.
Black started a 12-0 run there and the Bulldogs were never in it the rest of the way.
Stephen Darden led the Bulldogs (13-6) with 17 points, while De’Aundrey Bowman had 11. Carthage finished 5 of 13 from the free throw line.
■ TATUM 79, HOOKS 51: DAINGERFIELD — Jayden Boyd recorded an 18-point, 16-rebound double-double, three other Eagles joined him in double figures and Tatum rolled to a 79-51 win over Hooks in a Class 3A area playoff game.
Decartiyay Allison added 15 points, five rebounds and four steals for Tatum. OB Jones finished with 15 points, five rebounds and four steals, and Haden Crowley had 11 points and five rebounds.
Tatum outscored Hooks 28-4 in the opening quarter.
Kendric Malone finished with seven points and seven rebounds, Dalone Fuller six points and Trey Fite four points for the Eagles. Bryan Hawkins chipped in with three points.
Tatum will meet Sabine on Tuesday in the regional quarterfinals.
■ GRAFORD 67, AVINGER 38: SUNNYVALE — The Avinger Indians saw their season end in the area round of the Class A playoffs with a 67-38 loss to Graford.
Keldyn Schubert finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and five assists in the loss for Avinger. Bryson Schubert added his own double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and two assists. Tristen Clark chipped in with four points and three rebounds, Jaeron Survia three points and five rebounds and Jacob Burleson two points and two steals.
■ COMMERCE 53, TROUP 48: LINDALE — Dodge Brown scored 29 points to lead No. 7 Commerce to a 53-48 win over Troup in a Class 3A area playoff game.
Quincy Kincade led Troup with 17 points, and he grabbed seven rebounds. Weslee Ross and Kedrick Frazier had 10 points each. Kris Johnson had 8 points and 13 rebounds, and Grayson Driggs added seven rebounds and seven assists.
Brown finished with six 3-pointers for Commerce (32-5).
Troup ended the season with a 22-6 record. Commerce will face either Atlanta or Jefferson in the regional quarterfinals.
■ MARTIN’S MILL 70, LINDEN-KILDARE 54: MOUNT VERNON — Martin’s Mill broke open a tight game in the third quarter as the No. 3 Mustangs defeated Linden-Kildare 70-54 on Thursday in a Class 2A boys area basketball playoff game at Mount Vernon High School.
The Mustangs (34-2) advance to meet either Celeste or McLeod in regional quarterfinals either Monday or Tuesday.
Linden-Kildare ends its season at 22-6.
Garrett Celsur led the Mustangs with 26 points with Michael Hawes tossing in 23. Others scoring for MM were Logan Morrow (9), Dylan Morrow (6) and Karson Goodwin (6).
Marquise Jones led L-K with 22 points, followed by Ty Patterson (17), Chase Bynum (7), Mason Johnson (5) and La Davion Johnson (3).
