BoysS. HILL WINS 2: UNION GROVE — The Spring Hill Panthers earned wins over McLeod (50-27) and Quitman (59-42) on Thursday to open play at the Union Grove Tournament.

Against McLeod, Tayler Riehemann scored 11 points, Devaunte Powers 10, James Thomas and Luke Hurst eight apiece, Jack Beckett five, Brennan Ferguson four and Isaiah Thomas and Easton Ballard two apiece.

Hurst tossed in 11 points go pace the Panthers against Quitman. Isaiah Thomas finished with nine points, James Thomas, Ferguson and Ballard seven apiece, Riehemann five, Powers and Beckett four each, Peyton Bassett three and Jaden Giddings two.

The Panthers will return to action Friday at 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

MCLEOD SPLITS: UNION GROVE — In McLeod’s loss to Spring Hill, Tyler Williams scored nine points, Mason Teer eight, Brennan Penny five, Henry Teer and Preston Bishop two apiece and Parker Patrick one.

The Longhorns also earned a 53-40 win over Quitman on Thursday.

Kannon Dempsey paced McLeod with 16 points and eight rebounds. Williams added 11 points and four rebounds, Henry Teer 10 points, Penny six points, Mason Teer five points and five rebounds, Jay Green three points and Jaxon Smith two points.

GirlsSABINE WINS 2: UNION GROVE — The Sabine Lady Cardinals earned wins over Spring Hill (40-25) and Alba-Golden (44-23) on Thursday at the Union Grove Tournament.

Claudia Simmons and Addy Gresham had eight points apiece for the Lady Cardinals against Spring Hill. Ashlynn Davis added sven, Tayla Calico six, Eliza Roper, Breanne Evans and Ally Gresham three apiece and Ashleigh McCormick two.

Addy Gresham tossed in 17 and Maddie Furrh 10 against Alba-Golden. Davis finished with five, and Roper and Ally Gresham had two apiece.

Sabine returns to action at 2:45 Friday against McLeod.

P. PEWITT 39, U. GROVE 35: UNION GROVE — In a close battle throughout, Paul Pewitt held on for a 39-35 win over host team Union Grove at the Union Grove Tournament.

Macey Roberts scored 15 points in the loss for Union Grove, which led 11-10 after one quarter and trailed 24-21 at halftime.

Gracie Stanford added eight points, and Ava Wightman, Gracie Winn and Brady Colby all chipped in with four in the loss for the Lady Lions.

MCLEOD 22, QUITMAN 17: UNION GROVE — Ella Lambeth scored eight points, Stormy Johnson was close behind with seven and McLeod went on a 10-5 run in the final quarter to earn a 22-17 win over Quitman.

Peyton Johnson added four points, Regan Johnson two and Chassie Gryder one. Lambeth led with six rebounds, and Regan Johnson had three assists and three steals.

In a 30-23 loss to Como-Pickton, Lambeth scored six points, Stormy Johnson four, Peyton Johnson, Gryder and Regan Johnson three apiece and Kenslee Cross and Rielyn Schubert two each. Stormy Johnson pulled down five rebounds, Regan Johnson had three assists and three steals and Schubert added three steals.

BROWNSBORO WINS 2: CRANDALL — At the Crandall Tournament, Brownsboro notched winso ver Independence (52-37) and Kennedale (71-70) on Friday.

Paris Miller scored 16, Rebecca Rumbo 10, Khyra Garrett and Khayla Garrett seven apiece, Allie Cooper six, Karis Fisher three, Tori Hooker two and Caylor Blackmon one against Independence.

Miller and Rumbo scored 16 apiece, with Khayla Garrett and Khyra Garrett adding 11 apiece, Cooper 10 and Blackmon seven against Kennedale.

Brownsboro faces Joshua at 3 p.m. and Fort Worth Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
