HALLSVILLE 49, TEXAS HIGH 42: HALLSVILLE — Benjamin Samples and Taven Jackel combined for 26 points, and the Hallsville Bobcats outscored Texas High 21-14 in a key third quarter en route to a 49-42 win.

Samples had 14 points, Jackel 12, Jai Locario nine and Ryan Pondant eight for Hallsville, which led 22-21 at the half.

The Bobcats (3-1) will visit Rusk on Tuesday.

BIG SANDY 49, T.K. GORMAN 46: BIG SANDY — Joshua Shipman scored 19 points, Brian Pullum added 14 and the Big Sandy Wildcats opened the season with a 49-46 win over T.K. Gorman.

Dakarai Menefee added eight points for the Wildcats, who trailed 16-10 after one quarter and 38-33 after three before outscoring the Crusaders 16-8 in the final eight minutes.

Miles Minnick had 16 points, and Grant McInnis, Dawson Douglas and Brett Petrakian all scored nine in the loss for T.K. Gorman.

BECKVILLE 66, CHIRENO 56: BECKVILLE — Ryan Harris led the way with a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double, Abram Hairgrove and Matt Barr joined him in double figures and Beckville notched a 66-56 win over Chireno.

Hairgrove hit 7 of 10 free throws and finished with 13 points. Barr knocked down three 3-pointers and had 12 points, and Elijah Ramsey finished with nine points and five assists for the Bearcats.

TROUP 56, TRINIDAD 38: TRINIDAD — Bracey Cover led the way with 24 points, Grayson Driggs added 10 for the Tigers and Troup earned a 56-38 win over Trinidad.

Kedrick Frazier had nine points, Logan Womack five and Blake Wood and Matthew Castillo four apiece for Troup (2-0), which led 18-7 after one quarter.

Reggie Hampton scored 18 in the loss for Trinidad.

MCLEOD 74, AVINGER 31: AVINGER — A 24-point first quarter explosion paved the way for the McLeod Longhorns’ 74-31 shellacking of the Avinger Indians here Tuesdy evening.

Trevor Deel dropped in 29 points to pace a trio in twin digits for the victorious Horns (6-0). Casey Smith netted 13 points and Silas Murdock added an even dozen to the winning cause.

Avinger got 16 points from Judson Jones.

FORNEY 70, JOHN TYLER 62: FORNEY — John Tyler freshman guard Ashad Walker scored 30 points but the Lions came up short, dropping a 70-62 decision to the Forney Jackrabbits on Tuesday.

SABINE 51, BROWNSBORO 49: LIBERTY CITY -- The Sabine Cardinals held off the Brownsboro Bears, 51-49, on Tuesday in a non-district basketball game.

Gage Wehrmann led the 2-1 Bears with 18 points and Tylor Johnson added 13.

Savoy Goodwyn paced the 3-1 Cards with 17 points, while David Robinson added 12 and Jason Alexander 11.

LATE MONDAY

WINONA 58, UNION GROVE 48: WINONA — Cameron Smalls scored 21 points, Ashton Smith added 15 for the Wildcats and Winona outscored Union Grove 18-9 in the final quarter en route to a 58-48 win.

Carson Daniels tossed in 23 points in the loss for Union Grove. Noah Mayhan added seven, Matthew Bower six, Aubrey Woodard four, Cooper Vestal three and Kole Burns and Cannon Cowan two apiece.

On Saturday, Union Grove earned a 56-44 win over Como-Pickton. Daniel led with 18 points. Mayhan added 12.

MCLEOD 66, HUGHES SPRINGS 31: HUGHES SPRING — Trevor Deel and Kobe Bonner combined for 28 points, Keldyn Schubert, Casey Smith and Nos Gryder all scored nine and McLeod pulled away late for a 66-31 win over Hughes Springs.

Deel had 15 points and 12 rebounds, Bonner 13 points, Schubert eight assists, two rebounds and six steals, Gryder four steals and Silas Murdock eight points.
