HALLSVILLE 8, CRANDALL 7: CRANDALL — Lauren Anderson pounded out three hits and drove in two runs, Lorena Ramirez walked three times and crossed the plate three times and Hallsville rallied for an 8-7 win over Crandall.

Jaydin Ainsworth drove in a run for the Ladycats, who trailed 2-1 after one inning. Ashlea Langley added a hit and an RBI.

Ainsworth worked three innings inside the circle, striking out three and walkng two while giving up three earned runs for the win. Maddie Melton pitched one inning, giving up one hit and one run.

MARSHALL DROPS 2: MARSHALL — Day one of Marshall’s softball tournament was dampened by pouring rain as well as a pair of losses Thursday as the Lady Mavs fell 7-3 to the Center Lady Roughriders and later to the Atlanta Lady Rabbits with a 3-0 score. The Lady Mavs are now 4-6 on the year.

In the loss to Center, Adriana Vences homered and drove in two runs, and MaKayla Johnson and Kacy Ridgeway picked up hits for Marshall.

Abi Vences had the lone hit for Marshall in the loss to Atlanta.

Adriana Vences worked 5.1 innings on the day, striking out 11 and walking eight. Emily Ellenburg struck out three and walked two in 1.1 innings against Center.

The Lady Mavs will be back in action today at 9 a.m. when they take on Hallsville’s JV squad and then at noon when they go up against Jefferson.

CARTHAGE 3, WHITEHOUSE 0: WHITEHOUSE — Taylor Wills tossed a two-hit shutout, Karsyn Isbell, Ashton Jones and Madison Reynolds drove in runs for Carthage and the Lady Dawgs notched a 3-0 win over Whitehouse on Thursday.

Wills struck out three and walked three. Kalli Cuff and Isbell doubled.

SABINE SPLITS: GRAND SALINE — The Sabine Lady Cardinals rolled to a 13-0 win over John Tyler and dropped a 6-1 decision to Grand Saline on Thursday.

In the shutout of John Tyler, Callie Sparks tossed a one-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks. At the plate, Blaire Kaufman and Sarah Davis had two hits apiece, with Davis driving in two runs, Madison Rice adding three RBI and Sparks helping her own cause with an RBI.

Sparks fanned two and walked three, giving up one earned run in the loss to Grand Saline, which held the Lady Cardinals without a hit in the game.

HUGHES SPRINGS DROPS 2: HUGHES SPRINGS — Keegan Fendley homered and drove in two runs, Karsyn Iltis tripled twice and added an RBI and North Lamar notched a 10-0 win over Hughes Springs.

McKenzie Dickson added a triple and two RBI for North Lamar, and Jaycie Hall struck out seven while holding Hughes Springs to one hit — a double by Pearl Perry.

Grace Pippin and Zoe Lanier pitched for the Lady Mustangs.

In a 5-4 loss to Bullard, Hughes Springs got singles from Abbye McKinney, Jacee Short, Presley Richardson and Karmen Searcy and RBI from McKinney and Searcy.

Marisol Kennedy struck out four and walked one in three innings.

LINDEN-KILDARE 10, DAINGERFIELD 4: LINDEN — Linden-Kildare put seven runs on the board in the first inning en route to a 10-4 win over Daingerfield.

Joi Akinsuroju homered and drove in two runs, and Kiara Robinson tripled and drove in a run in the loss for Daingerfield. Makayla Robinson struck out three and walked four in three innings.

ALTO 13, NACOGDOCHES 3: NACOGDOCHES — Alto used a 10-run second inning to take control in a 13-3 win over Nacogdoches.

Jalyn Tobias had two hits and two RBI, and Reanna Guinn drove in two runs for Alto. Abbie Teutsch, Maquela Jackson, Presley Griffith and and Makayla Black all drove in runs.

COLLEGE

UT TYLER SWEEPS LETU: TYLER — LeTourneau had its season-opening five-game winning streak snapped with a pair of losses to UT Tyler,falling 11-7 and 18-1.

In the opener, Macey Mize doubled in a run, Hana Bonner added a two-run double and Ashley Crawford and Emilee Anderson had RBI singles. Samantha Akers took the pitching loss.

In the nightcap, Bonner belted a solo home run for LETU’s lone run of the contest. Taylor Nichols had two hits.
