LOBOS ON DCTF: The Longview Lobos will be featured on a custom, cover-wrapped copy of the 2019 edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine.

Copies are $15 apiece (cash only), with all proceeds from sales supporting the Longview High School athletic department.

All orders must be turned in to the Lobo Athletic Office no later than June 20, and payment must be received when the order is placed. No holds or reservations accepted, and only 300 copies are available.

ARK-LA-TEX JUNIOR GOLF: The Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour has begun its summer schedule.

The tour will make stops at Oak Forest in Longview on June 10, Northside Country Club in Texarkana on June 17, Wood Hollow in Longview on June 24, The Templest in Liberty City on July 1 (adult/youth), Alpine in Longview on July 8, Oak Grove in New Boston on July 15, Wood Hollow in Longview on July 22 (adult/youth) and Pinecrest Country Club in Longview on July 29 (Tournament of Champions).

The tour is open to boys and girls. The pre-tour (9 holes) will feature coed 7-9 and boys and girls 10-11. The regular tour (18 holes) will feature 12-13 boys and girls, 14-15 boys and girls and 15-16 boys and girls.

Membership fee is $30, and tournament entry fee is $25.

TAMPA BAY RAYS CAMP: Area baseball players will have a chance to try out for the Tampa Bay Rays in an open camp set for June 27 at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

Players will be evaluated on running, throwing,fielding and hitting abilities. Ages 16-21 are encouraged to attend the camp, which will be conducted by Tampa scout Pat Murphy and under the direction of scout Scott Mitchell.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., with workout to follow at 9 a.m.

The Rays will provide all equipment with the exception of gloves, spikes and catchers gear.

SOFTBALL LEAGUE FORMING: The East Texas/Louisiana Women’s Fastpitch League is forming teams with a tentative start date for games set for June 23.

The season will run through Aug. 4 (six games), with games scheduled to be played at 3 p.m. on Sundays at the White Oak softball field.

The league is for ages 18-older, including current high school and college fastpitch athletes, past high school players and college softball alumni.

Cost is $20 per player, plus the cost of team shirts, and deadline to enter is June 1.

All games will be played with two umpires and have a 1-hour, 15-minute time limit (or seven innings).

BRYAN QUINN TOURNAMENT: The 24th annual Bryan Quinn Memorial Golf Tournament for men and women is set for June 7 at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Longview.

Lunch is from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., with tee times for all flights scheduled for 1 p.m.

The event with be an 18-home scramble format with two-person teams ($80 per person includes green and cart fees, lunch, soft drinks and snacks and cash prizes based on the number of entrants) and contests for longest drive and two closest to the hole chances.

The tournament benefits Because I Care, an organization that recruits potential donors for the Be The Match Registry by conducting drives and paying tissue-typing fees.

TENNIS TOURNAMENTS: Spring Hill’s Midnight Madness Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament is set for June 7 and a singles tennis tournament is on tap June 14 at the high school courts.

The Midnight Madness Tournament is for high school players only as part of the East Texas Circuit. Entry fee is $10 per person. Matches will begin at 7 p.m. and the tournament should be completed by 4 a.m.

The singles tournament, also part of the East Texas Circuit, is for boys and girls. Division I is for incoming grades 10-12, and Division II is for incoming grades 7-8.

The tournament has a scheduled 8 a.m. start.

BUCKNER CLAY SHOOT: The 20th annual Texas Bank and Trust Sporting Clays Challenge, benefitting Buckner, is set for July 12-13 at Prairie Creek Sporting Clays.

The event benefits Buckner, which provides services for Foster care and adoption, family pathways, Longview Family Hope Center and Longview Project HOPES.

Friday, July 12 is the Texas Rangers Foundation Twilight Event, with registration set for 3 p.m. and shooting set for 4 p.m.

Saturday, July 13 is the Jasper Ventures Early Riser Event, with registration at 7 a.m. and shooting at 8 a.m.

A raffle drawing is set for July 13 with the chance to win a 2019 Nissan Rogue.
