COLLEGE STATION – Daingerfield opened play with a pair of wins and finished on top of its pool in the Texas State Division III 7-on-7 tournament at 2-1 on Thursday

The Tigers knocked off Albany (30-16) and Van Horn (27-7) before falling to Ganado, 20-14, in the finale.

Spring Hill opened with a 27-26 win over Hitchcock but fell to Graham (29-18) and Boerne (26-19) to finish third in Pool C on the Division II side of action.

Pleasant Grove finished 2-1 on the day in D-II while Arp and Carlisle went 0-3 in pool play on Thursday, which featured a lengthy weather delay.

Action now shifts to a single-elimination bracket.

Spring Hill meets La Vega at 9 a.m. today while Pleasant Grove takes on Columbia in D-II. In Division III, Daingerfield opens with Ozona at 8 a.m. while Carlisle takes on Comfort and Arp squares off with Crane.

The D-II championship is set for 3 p.m. while D-III competes at 2:30 p.m. today.
