A Mount Enterprise man died Monday night after losing control of his vehicle in Rusk County and hitting a tree in a crash that also seriously injured a teen girl passenger, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
Troopers responded at 11:35 p.m. to the crash on FM 95 north of Mount Enterprise, DPS spokeswoman Sgt. Jean Dark said. She said a preliminary investigation showed Johnny Ray Taylor Jr., 24, was driving northwest on FM 95 in a slight left curve approaching a hilltop when his vehicle veered off the road to the right and traveled through grass before vaulting and hitting a large tree with its driver’s door.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by Rusk County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Jackie Risinger and taken to Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson, Dark said.
Dark said a 15-year-old girl riding in the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler in serious condition. Dark said Taylor was wearing a seat belt.
