6-year-old athlete chosen for Down Syndrome Society's video
Ryan Bailey of Gladewater is becoming a regular poster boy for National Down Syndrome Society efforts to show there's plenty of kick left in people who have the condition.
For the second consecutive year, Ryan's image was selected from more than 1,000 photos as part of a video the society projected on the giant plasma screen in Times Square.
The 6-year-old, who has an orange belt in tae kwon, will be shown with his instructor, Sam Phrumjuntun. The video was scheduled to light up the New York City landmark Saturday.
In last year's image, Ryan was caught demonstrating his golf swing.
Ryan is the instructor's first student to have Down syndrome. This past summer, Ryan participated in his first tournament held at South Fork Ranch, the North Dallas spread where the TV series "Dallas" was filmed.
