Staff writer Rick Kretzschmar takes a by the numbers look at Longview's 30-0 win over Marshall in the season opener for both teams on Friday at Lobo Stadium.
<strong>10:</strong> The number of tackles for losses Longview made. This included three by safety Corey Bartley, who led the Lobos with 14 tackles while adding a blocked punt.
<strong>17:</strong> The number of times Longview has held Marshall scoreless in their series, including Friday's 30-0 win. Longview has won 11 straight games over Marshall and leads the series 52-45-4. Marshall has shutout Longview 21 times, the most recent in 1962.
<strong>33.8:</strong> The average number of yards gained when Longview receiver Eric Hawkins made a reception. Hawkins, who had three receptions the entire 2010 season, had four receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown against Marshall.
<strong>1.6:</strong> The average number of yards Marshall gained per pass attempt. The Mavericks gained 32 yards on 20 passing attempts.
<strong>3.7:</strong> The average number of yards the Lobos gained on rushing attempts in the first three quarters. Longview gained 84 yards on 23 attempts in that time.
<strong>2:</strong> The number of personal-foul calls made in the game, one for each team. A brawl in the third quarter marred last year's game in Marshall, which Longview won 31-9.
