A Harrison County jury on Wednesday found Harrison County Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson not guilty of driving while intoxicated after a two-day trial.
According to a press release from Marshall attorney Rick Berry, Thompson was found not guilty after the jury deliberated for about 45 minutes.
Testimony began in the case Tuesday, and jurors turned over the verdict at around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Thompson was arrested Oct. 20, 2009, and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Berry said Thompson was looking forward to putting the "unfortunate event" behind him and continuing to serve Harrison County residents as their elected commissioner for Precinct One .
