Rusk County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Viki Penny this morning announced the arrest of two teens near Overton this past Thursday on multiple burglary of a vehicle charges.
At about 8 Thursday morning, patrol Dep. Tray Anderson went to a residence on County Road 140D on a criminal mischief complaint. Residents there complained to Anderson of damage to their mailbox and newspaper box, and footprints were noticed near the damage.
"After an investigation of the footprints, Deputy Anderson located the two teenage suspects responsible for the damage to the boxes," Penny said in a media release.
The two suspects - a Kilgore 15-year-old and an Overton 16-year-old - admitted they were responsible for the mailbox damage and led Anderson to evidence they had hidden in different places in the area that helped solve 11 vehicle burglary crimes, Penny said.
The suspects were charged with 11 counts of burglary of a vehicle and transported to the Juvenile Processing Office in Henderson.
The two suspects will go before County Court-at-Law Judge Chad Dean.
