Residents had to be evacuated Sunday after a more than 100-acre fire ignited from a tractor trailer that had a blowout.
Harrison County Fire Marshal Thomas Mock said crews were dispatched to the blaze near FM 2199 and Interstate 20 about 2:30 p.m.
"This fire has ran in excess of 100 acres, and we already have four local fire departments on scene, as well as three dozers from the Texas Forest Service. They are also making air drops," Mock said.
Mock said crews from Emergency Services District No. 3 and Elysian Fields and Waskom volunteer firefirefighters were working alongside Texas Forest Service personnel to battle the blaze to prevent it from spreading. Air drops were being made as well, Mock said.
They were still fighting the blaze late Sunday.
