Dancing With the Stars in Longview, an annual fundraising and entertainment event presented by the Pine Tree High School Leadership Class, will swing into high gear Saturday.
The event is produced by the cast of "Where Were you in '42?," an annual variety show sponsored by the Leadership Class, featuring dancing and music from the 1940s presented in a USO-style show.
Sponsor Terry Barrett said proceeds from Dancing with the Stars benefit cancer patients.
"We have dancers from the fire department, police department, city, Channel 56, Texas Oncology and the business field," Barrett said.
"All of the proceeds benefit the Life Beyond Cancer Foundation, which assists any cancer patient in East Texas regardless of where they are receiving treatment."
The performance will be at First Christian Church, 720 N. Sixth St. Guests who purchased tables should arrive for dinner at 6 p.m. Guests should arrive for performances at 7:30 p.m.
Gold sponsor tables that seat eight are $500, while silver sponsor tables, also seating eight, are $350.
Bronze level seating is $25 and does not include dinner.
Tickets are available at (903) 918-6783.
Dancing with the Stars pairs students from "Where Were You in '42?" with local celebrities. Each couple has spent about six weeks learning a dance together - such as the quick step or swing - and a waltz under the direction of dance instructor Sal Landeros.
