April 17, 2012 at 9:58 a.m.

A one-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon left a Longview utility pole in two pieces and hanging from wires.

Driver Sylvester Edwards, 18, of Longview and passenger Bruson Palmer were not seriously injured in the wreck near the intersection of Timpson and 13th streets.

Longview Police Officer Jeremy Higginbotham said Edwards was traveling west on Timpson Street and made a turn onto 13th Street at an unsafe speed.

The vehicle then left the roadway and crashed into the pole before being stopped by a nearby building.
