He said it
Surratt: "We've got to limit their yards per carry and not let them have too many first downs. They want to grind it out and control the tempo of the game. We can't let them have the long drives … They've only thrown it 80 times all season. They're averaging four throws a game in the playoffs. They can throw the football, but that's not what they want to do. We're going to try to get them in second-and-long and third-and-long so they'll get out of their gameplan … Their defense keeps one high all the time and a lot of times they'll play two high safeties … Their linebackers are very solid and come downhill. Their defensive line is very physical. They're just solid. They're not going to beat themselves. They're going to make you move the ball and execute."
Did you know: Carthage is on an eight-game winning streak and has scored at least 30 points in all eight games. They have scored 30 or more 12 times in 13 games … Bogenschutz has thrown four interceptions in three playoff wins … Pipkin is averaging 165.7 rushing yards per game in the playoffs … Carthage has allowed at least 20 points in all three playoff wins … El Campo's win over Ingleside secured its deepest playoff run in 45 years … The Ricebirds have averaged a 20.7-point margin of victory in the playoffs … Brandl, Davis and Johnson have each rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season.
