A Marshall man wanted on a parole violation was arrested Thursday afternoon after a chase involving several law enforcement agencies.
Jessie James Washington III, 29, was arrested about noon after officers tried to stop him for running a stop sign at Wood and West Houston streets in Marshall, Assistant Chief Leland Benoit said.
Benoit said Washington appeared to comply with the traffic stop, but then sped away.
The chase continued from Marshall on U.S. 80 toward Hallsville until Washington stopped his vehicle near Fire Tower Road, got out and ran.
He was arrested a short time later.
Washington was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle. He also was wanted on an outstanding Marshall police warrant for speeding and a warrant from the Texas Department of Corrections in Austin for violating parole.
Benoit said Washington would remain in Harrison County Jail until he could be transferred to the correction facility in Marshall.
