The Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association hosted its third Annual East Texas Conference on Tuesday afternoon at the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore.
Fred Wang, research scientist for the Bureau of Economic Geology, and Harold E. McGowen III, president and CEO of Navidad Resources of Tyler, spoke to a crowd of about 50 at the event. They provided updates on energy related developments in Texas.
Wang said he and others at the bureau have been studying and attempting to understand the dynamics of the East Texas Oil Field for several years.
"You guys are the driving force of technology in the industry today," Wang said of advances being used in the region to get more oil and natural gas from wells.
TIPRO also made a donation to the East Texas Oil Museum on behalf of Texas oil and gas producers. Afterwards, a reception was held at the Meadowbrook Country Club.
