Henderson Lady Lions beat Liberty Hill, going to state softball championship

AUSTIN – The Henderson Lady Lions are one win away from a state softball championship.

Jenna Toon drove in two runs, and Tiarra Davis tossed a five-hit shutout to lead No. 1 Henderson to a 3-0 win over No. 4 Liberty Hill today in a Class 3A UIL State Softball Tournament semifinal at McCombs Field.

Henderson (30-8) moves on to face Hudson (35-5) at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the Class 3A state championship.

Toon, the No. 9 hitter in the Henderson lineup, went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and two RBIs and Davis added a hit and drove in a run.

Davis blanked Liberty-Hill through seven full innings inside the circle. She struck out nine and did not walk a batter.
