Staff writer Jimmy Carter takes a by-the-numbers look at the Longview Lobos' 25-17 loss at Mesquite Horn on Friday.


Seasons with two district losses in coach John King's previous eight seasons at Longview. The Lobos won the district title in each of those seasons. They are in a three-way tie for fourth place this year.


Yards of total offense for Mesquite Horn quarterback Destri White, the highest output Longview's defense has allowed an opposing player this season. White threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 109 yards, including 75 in the fourth quarter.


Yards per catch for junior receiver Dorian Leonard, who finished with six catches for 131 yards and a touchdown, all career-highs. The 6-foot-3 receiver entered the game with three catches for 62 yards this season.


Tackles for senior linebacker Taurean Sheppard, a team-high. Sheppard's 71 tackles through seven games ranks third on the team behind senior safety Corey Bartley (85 tackles) and senior linebacker DeMarkus Lathan (83).


Rushing yards per game for senior Tory White in Longview's three losses, compared to 135.8 yards in the four wins. White has 218 yards and one touchdown on 55 carries (4.0 yards per carry) in losses, 543 yards and six touchdowns on 60 carries (9.1) in wins.


Third-down conversions on 14 attempts for Mesquite Horn on Friday. The Jaguars converted 7 of 10 third downs on scoring drives, Horn also converted its only fourth-down attempt on its first touchdown drive. The Jaguars converted seven times when they needed five or more yards on third or fourth down.
